In the operation in Syria, 162 members of the Alawite community have been reported killed, with a call for the surrender of arms from Sharar.

The interim president of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, has called upon the Alawite rebels, associated with the ousted President Bashar al-Assad, to surrender their weapons and capitulate. This appeal follows significant attacks on the new rulers of the war-torn nation.

Meanwhile, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 162 members of the Alawite community were killed during a recent operation by Syrian security forces. The day prior, intense clashes occurred between security forces and loyalist gunmen in areas considered strongholds of the Alawite community.

In a statement broadcast on the messaging platform Telegram, al-Shara remarked, "You have attacked all Syrian citizens and committed unforgivable crimes. If you seek revenge,..."

Military personnel in uniform have been observed firing at individuals from close range in other videos.

AFP has not independently verified the authenticity of these images.

Following the clashes last Thursday, authorities have initiated a comprehensive security operation.

A curfew has been imposed in the coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus until Saturday. These areas are regarded as the stronghold of the Alawite community, which supports the ousted President Assad. On Friday, authorities announced a security operation in the Jableh area, situated between the two provinces.

Officials have stated that the widespread power outages in most parts of Latakia province are acts of sabotage.

A curfew has also been enforced in the city of Homs.

According to a report from SANA, security measures are being directed against armed groups loyal to Assad and their supporters.
