President Al-Sharar calls for an end to violence and a plea for peace and unity.
The interim President of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, has called for an end to the ongoing violence and conflict in the country, urging for peace and unity. The clashes in Latakia and Tartus have already resulted in the deaths of over a thousand individuals.
The violent confrontations began on March 6 when loyalists to Bashar al-Assad launched a coordinated attack on Syrian security forces. In response, thousands of pro-government fighters advanced into coastal regions to conduct operations against their adversaries.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the current conflict has led to the deaths of a total of 1,018 individuals, including 745 Alawite civilians, 125 members of the government forces, and 148 war criminals loyal to Assad.
In light of this situation, the President's appeal and the government's response are of significant importance.
On Sunday, the optical cable connecting the provinces of Daraa and Suwayda was damaged, resulting in a complete disruption of internet and telecommunications services in the region.
Ahmad Al-Hariri, the director of the Daraa telecommunications branch, stated that multiple attacks on telecommunications infrastructure have led to the severing of this cable, which has disconnected the main communication hub in southern Syria.
What does the future hold for the conflict?
Analysts suggest that the current situation in Syria reveals the depth of the country's internal divisions. The ongoing clashes between government forces and those loyal to Bashar al-Assad indicate the potential for larger confrontations in the days ahead.
There are calls for international intervention and dialogue to seek a resolution to this violence. However, Syria's stability is now facing severe challenges. Source: Al Jazeera.
