Saudi Arabia's funding will provide tennis players with 12 months of fully paid maternity leave.
Women tennis players listed under the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will soon be eligible for up to 12 months of paid maternity leave. This initiative has been jointly launched by the WTA with funding from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia.
The WTA made this announcement in a statement released last Thursday. It was noted that over 320 WTA players will benefit from the "PIF WTA Maternity Fund Program."
The statement further elaborated that for the first time, WTA players will have access to a maximum of 12 months of paid maternity leave. Additionally, they will be permitted to undergo treatments aimed at enhancing reproductive capabilities for family planning and childbirth. The initiative will also provide several other benefits to the players.
However, to qualify for these benefits, female players must adhere to a specific timeframe.
