The United States is repatriating migrants as it vacates Guantanamo Bay.

The plan to detain migrants at the Guantanamo Bay naval base in Cuba has encountered another obstacle this week for the Trump administration. Forty migrants who were held there have been returned to the United States, and no future deportation flights to the island have been scheduled.

On Thursday, a defense official confirmed that there are currently no migrants at the Guantanamo Bay naval base. The detention center housed 23 individuals classified as 'high-risk' along with an additional 17 from the migrant processing center.

The official did not disclose the whereabouts of the men after their transfer. However, multiple sources have indicated that on Tuesday, they were moved to one or more facilities in Louisiana via a flight operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

ICE did not respond to inquiries regarding this matter.Ultimately, although 195 tents were established at the site, they were never utilized due to their failure to meet the standards set by the International

Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regarding climate control and electrical facilities. Construction was halted in February.

The Trump administration faced multiple legal challenges, including a lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) alleging the denial of legal assistance to immigrants. Additionally, a separate hearing is scheduled in the D.C.

federal court regarding a case aimed at halting the transfer of ten detained immigrants to Guantanamo.
