A worker has been dismissed for hoisting the Palestinian flag in India.

 

A worker from the Uttar Pradesh Power Department has been dismissed for displaying the Palestinian flag on Eid day. This information was reported by the Indian media outlet Hindustan Times on Sunday, April 6.
The dismissed employee, identified as Sakib Khan, was a contractual worker in the power department and was stationed in Saharanpur, a city in the state.
Officials from the Uttar Pradesh Power Department stated that Khan raised the Palestinian flag after the prayers for the holy Eid al-Fitr on March 31. He also shared a photograph of this act on social media.
Sanjeev Kumar, an executive from the power department, described the act of raising the Palestinian flag as "anti-national." He informed the Indian news agency PTI that immediate action was taken against him. 
He added, "The matter is under the purview of the power department."
