Hamas launched an attack on Israel using ten rockets.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has launched its largest rocket attack on Israel in months. It fired 10 rockets into southern Israel on Sunday night (April 6), the Times of Israel reported.

Although the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said five of the 10 rockets were intercepted by its air defenses,

at least one of the remaining rockets hit the city of Ashkelon, causing some damage.

In addition, a 30-year-old man was slightly injured by rocket debris. He was taken to the city's Barzilai Hospital. Two other people were injured while running towards the bunker. Several were treated for severe anxiety as a result of their injuries.

In a video circulating on social media, the rocket hit near a high-rise residential building in Ashkelon.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the rocket attack. However, Israel has threatened that Hamas will pay a heavy price for the attack.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Defense Minister Israel Kurtz on his flight to the United States, ordering him to respond forcefully to the attack. His office said he had authorized a major military operation against Hamas in Gaza.

In a statement, Kurtz said he had ordered the IDF to “continue and expand the ongoing operation.”

The rocket attack was the largest by Hamas since the collapse of a ceasefire and hostage-swapping deal in March.
