Protests involving thousands of people have erupted across the United States against Trump.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets across the United States against President Donald Trump. Protests were held in major cities including the country's capital, Washington DC, New York and Chicago on Saturday local time. Opponents of the Trump administration's deportation of immigrants, layoffs from government jobs, Gaza and Ukraine policies took part in the protests. Al Jazeera and Reuters reported.
Television footage showed protesters holding placards with various slogans in front of the White House. The placards read 'Workers Should Have the Power', 'No Kinship', 'Stop Arming Israel', 'Stop Racist Tyranny' and 'Immigrants Are Welcome Here'. Similar placards were seen in other cities.

Protesters in various locations were seen chanting slogans in support of immigrants and against the Trump administration's deportation of immigrants. Protesters also showed solidarity with universities that have been threatened with defunding or closure by the Trump administration.

"Trump and his administration have begun to use US law to deport immigrants. We are also trying to build networks and resistance to protect our neighbors in this situation," said a protester in Lafayette Square near the White House.

Some protesters were seen waving Palestinian flags and wearing Palestinian scarves, or keffiyehs, around their necks. They protested the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians. Many chanted "Free Palestine."

Some protesters were seen carrying Ukrainian flags. They called on Washington to be tougher on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Donald Trump has made some important policies since taking office in January. Elon Musk was given the responsibility of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Since then, his party has vacated more than 200,000 positions out of 2.3 million federal employees.

The Trump administration has recently arrested many foreign students. Many of them are being tried to be deported. Many of these students participated in pro-Palestinian protests. Many also object to the current administration's climate change and health policies. Rights groups have been criticizing Trump's policies.

During the protests, various banners next to the Washington Monument read, 'Hate does not make a nation great', 'Equal rights for all do not mean your rights are reduced'.

This is the second nationwide protest against Trump since he took office in January. The main organizing group of Saturday's protest is called '50501'. This means 50 protests in 50 states, 1 movement. The program for this day is called 'National Day of Action'. Organizers have announced plans for about 400 protests across the United States.

The first nationwide protest of Trump's second term was held on April 5. It was organized by the civil rights group Indivisible. The protest was called "Hands Off," which could mean "Let us do our own thing."

"50501" has called for another protest across the United States on May 1. The event is called "May Day Strong."
