This week may see a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to Trump's expectations.

US President Donald Trump hopes that Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement this week to end the ongoing war. However, Trump did not say under what conditions this agreement will or may be reached.

This information was reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu on Monday (April 21).

In a post on his social media account Truth Social, Trump said, “If the two countries reach an agreement, they will be able to do big business with the United States—and earn huge profits from this business! The United States is now on the road to prosperity.”

Since coming to power for a second term in January this year, Donald Trump has intensified diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Washington is in regular talks with the two countries to find a way to reach an agreement.

Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The war has been going on since then. Trump recently said that Kiev and Moscow should be encouraged to come to an agreement. Then last Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that there would be a short ceasefire for Easter.

However, both countries have since accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

Incidentally, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The war, which has lasted for more than three years, has caused widespread loss of life and destruction on both sides.
