An Indian CRPF officer lost his job after marrying a Pakistani young woman.

Munir Ahmed, a jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been dismissed from service for allegedly hiding the details of his marriage to a Pakistani woman.

He was dismissed on Saturday. Hours after his dismissal, Munir Ahmed said that he got married about a month after getting permission from the headquarters. He said that he would go to court over the matter. NDTV News.

According to the report, Ahmed, a resident of Gharota area of Jammu, joined the CRPF in April 2017. He said that he would go to court over his dismissal. Munir said, "I am hopeful that I will go to court and get justice."

The CRPF said that Munir Ahmed was dismissed for keeping Pakistani national Minal Khan's marriage secret and keeping her at his house even after her short-term visa expired. The organization claims that this act is a threat to national security.

Munir Ahmed said, "I first came to know about the dismissal through the media. After some time, I received a letter from the CRPF informing me of my dismissal. This was a big shock for me and my family. Because I had sought permission from the headquarters to marry a Pakistani national and got it.’

A terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, on April 22, killed 26 people. Following this incident, the Indian government asked Pakistani nationals to leave the country. Soon after, the news of Munir Ahmed and Minal’s marriage came to light.

Minal Khan entered India through the Attari-Wagah border on February 28. Her visa was valid until March 22. However, the court stayed her deportation at the last minute. She is currently staying at her husband’s house in Jammu.

Munir Ahmed said that on December 31, 2022, she first informed the authorities about her desire to marry a Pakistani national. Then she was asked to submit a copy of her passport, marriage card and affidavit. He said, “In addition to my own affidavit, I also submitted the affidavits of my parents, village sarpanch and district development council members through proper channels. Later, on April 30, 2024, I got approval from the headquarters.”

He added that he had applied for a no-objection certificate. However, he was told that there was no such separate provision and that the necessary rules and regulations for marrying foreign nationals were followed by informing the government. Munir said, “We got married on May 24, 2023, via video call. Later, I submitted the wedding photos, Nikahnama and marriage certificate to my workplace, 72 Battalion.”

The jawan added, “When she (Minal) first came to India on a 15-day visa on February 28, we applied for a long-term visa. We also completed all the necessary procedures, including the interview.”

He said that the court had stayed the deportation order of his wife last Wednesday.

When Munir Ahmed returned to work after his leave, he was asked to report to the Sundarbani Battalion headquarters on March 25. But his transfer order came on March 27. He alleged that the transfer order was implemented without giving him any time and he was immediately relieved of duty.

After this, Munir had no other option but to join his new duty in Bhopal. He joined Bhopal on March 29. On reaching there, he met the commanding officer and his assistant and submitted the necessary documents. Munir Ahmed said that he will approach the court against the decision of dismissal. He hopes that he will get justice from the court.
