Emphasis on the diplomacy of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

 

In the 14th dialogue of ASEAN-IPA leaders, significant emphasis has been placed on the situations in Myanmar, Gaza, and Ukraine in addressing regional and global instability. The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) has clarified its position by stressing the importance of peaceful dialogue and diplomatic initiatives to resolve these geopolitical crises.

During the dialogue, IPA President Tan Sri Dato' (Dr.) Johari bin Abdul stated that to maintain regional stability, the responsibilities do not lie solely with heads of state, but also with parliaments. We will work together based on international law, human rights, and justice.

He condemned the military repression in Myanmar, the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, and the ongoing war in Ukraine, expressing the need for long-term solutions to these crises. Sustainable and inclusive diplomacy is essential for this purpose.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
