Field Marshal Asim Munir met with the military chief of Iran in Tehran.
Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the General Staff Headquarters in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
He held a meeting with the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri. The meeting discussed the recent developments in the regional security situation and emphasised the need to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
ARY News reported this in a report on Tuesday (May 27).
The report said that the military chiefs of both countries discussed possible ways to strengthen border security, deepen military-to-military relations and transform border areas into zones of trade and economic integration, which will contribute to overall regional stability and prosperity.
Upon his arrival in Tehran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was accorded a guard of honour by a well-equipped contingent of the Iranian Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is currently on the third leg of a four-nation tour to Azerbaijan. He will visit Tajikistan as the last leg of his visit.
Earlier, during his visit to Iran, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday. During the visit, various issues related to bilateral and regional interests were discussed.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar.
Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep respect for the Iranian Supreme Leader during the meeting and said that he is one of the most important figures in the Muslim world and has the trust and respect of the entire Muslim Ummah.
