Four individuals have been killed in Delhi, prompting the issuance of a 'Yellow Alert'.

 



A woman and her three children died after a tree fell on them in the Indian capital Delhi due to inclement weather and heavy rain. A 'yellow alert' has also been issued till Saturday due to the inclement weather. 120 flights from Delhi were delayed on Friday morning.


At least three flights were diverted from Ahmedabad to Jaipur before landing at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport due to heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds, NDTV reported.


The flights diverted to Jaipur were scheduled to land in Delhi from Bangalore and Pune.


According to FlightRadar data, flights landing at Delhi airport were delayed by an average of 21 minutes and departing flights by 61 minutes.


More than 20 flights from Delhi were delayed, NDTV reported. Train services in Delhi are also being disrupted due to the inclement weather. 15 to 20 trains were delayed due to trees falling on wires in the storm.


Heavy rains have caused waterlogging in various places in Delhi including Dawarka, Khanpur, South Extension Road, Minto Road, Lajpat Nagar and Moti Bagh. There were reports of trees being uprooted or uprooted in various places due to the storm. However, the extent of damage is not yet known. People have been advised to stay in their homes as much as possible to avoid danger.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the temperature in Delhi will be 19.8 degrees Celsius on Friday and that gusty winds of 70 to 80 kmph are likely to blow in the capital.


According to IMD, the Safdarjung Meteorological Station in Delhi recorded 77 mm of rainfall in the last three hours. In addition, 78 mm of rainfall was recorded in Lodhi Road, 30 mm in Palam, 19.5 mm in Najafgarh and 32 mm in Pitampura during the same period.
