India claims 35-40 Pakistani soldiers killed in counter-attack

At least 35 to 40 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in the Indian military operation, said Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghosh, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India. He told a special press conference on Sunday that the counter-attack was carried out between May 7 and 10.

He said that 'Operation Siddharth' was a specific military strategy, the aim of which was to punish the planners and masters of terrorism and destroy their infrastructure.

He said, our aim on May 7 was to completely destroy the terrorists and their bases. There was no intention to attack any civilian or military installation in Pakistan.

However, that evening, a group of Pakistani drones and small UAVs tried to attack civilian and military areas in India. Most of these were successfully repelled. Although three drones landed on the ground, very little damage was done.

The DGMO also said that on the night of May 8-9, Pakistan sent drones and fighter jets across the border into India and attempted unsuccessful attacks on several military installations. The firing also increased along the border line, leading to intense clashes between the two sides.

Air Marshal A.K. Bharti of the Indian Air Force said that several military bases, command centers and air defense systems in Pakistan, including Chaklala, Rafique, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, Bholari and Jacobabad, were successfully targeted.

He said, "Our objective was to destroy the bases of terrorism, not to count the bodies. Our job was to hit the target, not to count the number of casualties."
