Israel has occupied 77 percent of Gaza.
Israeli forces have occupied 77 percent of Gaza. The Palestinian independence movement Hamas's media office reported this information. In a statement, Hamas said that Israeli troops were occupying territory by bombing and driving away locals.
In separate statements on Sunday (May 25), Hamas' armed wing and the Islamic Jihad group said that their fighters had launched bomb and anti-tank rocket attacks and sneak attacks against Israeli forces in several places across Gaza. Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said that Israel had attacked Khan Younis in southern Gaza, Jabalia in the north and Nusra in central Gaza on Sunday. The new attacks killed 23 people, including journalists and rescue workers.
Local journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda and several members of his family were killed in an airstrike in Jabalia. Israeli bombs fell on his house. This brings the death toll in Gaza to 220 journalists.
Israel has been waging a devastating war in Gaza since Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages.
Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire in January this year, mediated by Qatar and with the efforts of the United States and Egypt. However, due to tensions over the release of hostages held by Hamas, Israel broke the ceasefire and resumed a full-scale military operation in Gaza.
