Israel's allegations of espionage against Egypt
Egypt is spying on Israel with the help of the Chinese Air Force. An Israeli media outlet has made such allegations against Cairo.
Israeli media outlet Natsiv.net claims that Egypt has begun testing the capabilities of Israeli systems on the southern front after Chinese aircraft arrived in Upper Egypt as part of a joint training exercise. Among the equipment that has arrived is a Chinese early warning aircraft, which has landed at the Beni Suef military airport.
According to the report, the Chinese early warning aircraft is capable of providing real-time airspace visibility of events in Sinai and Israeli airspace. As a result, Egypt is able to monitor Israeli military activities.
The website claims that China has flown a “provocative” aircraft near the Israeli border, activating Israeli warning systems. On the other hand, the Chinese early warning aircraft recorded the Israeli response.
The report described the move as a “clear violation” of the Egypt-Israel peace treaty and expressed surprise at the silence of the United States, the treaty’s guarantor.
The report called on Israel to respond to Chinese interests on its territory, such as the port of Haifa. It stressed that Israel, not Taiwan, should not tolerate such provocations.
The report comes at a time when Egypt and China are conducting joint air exercises amid rising tensions in the region.
Israel has not yet made any formal diplomatic protest against the allegations.
