The Belgian princess is also in trouble due to Trump's Harvard incident.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's daughter, Cleo Carney, and Princess Elisabeth of Belgium are also embroiled in an ongoing legal dispute between Harvard University and the administration of US President Donald Trump.
The Trump administration has recently decided to revoke the admission of foreign students to Harvard University. Harvard University filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on May 23. The case challenges the administration's decision.
Harvard authorities say that the decision violates the First Amendment of the US Constitution and will have an "immediate and devastating" impact on their 7,000 international students.
A US judge has then temporarily suspended the decision and issued a "restraining order" so that the students are not immediately affected.
However, if the Trump administration's decision is upheld, Harvard will not be able to admit international students for the next two years. And those currently enrolled may have to transfer to another US college to maintain their visas.
Homeland Security Request Behind the Controversy
The dispute began on April 16, when Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noam asked Harvard authorities to provide information on some students. Through which they could be expelled in the future for participating in the protests.
According to 2022 data, there were 686 Canadian students at Harvard. Among them is Cleo Carney, the daughter of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. She has just completed her first year at Harvard. Cleo is studying under the ‘Resource Efficiency Program’.
Another student in discussion is Princess Elisabeth of Belgium. Who is the heir to the Belgian throne. She has completed the first year of a two-year master's program in public policy at Harvard's Kennedy School. She is currently in Belgium and it is not clear whether she will be able to return for the second year.
In this regard, Xavier Bert, a spokesman for the Belgian royal palace, said, "It is difficult to say at this time what impact this decision will have on the princess. We are investigating the matter."
Harvard strongly condemns
Meanwhile, Harvard University authorities have called the Trump administration's decision "illegal" and said,
"The government wants to erase a quarter of our student population with the stroke of a pen. Yet these international students make an indispensable contribution to our university and its mission."
The university also said that they are taking rapid steps to provide their students, faculty and staff with the necessary support and guidance. Source: NTV
