The Kashmiri Muslim family is oppressed. In India, simply having a beard and cap leads to being labeled a 'terrorist'.

 

In the region of Jammu and Kashmir administered by India, the Muslim community in Pahalgam is living in fear following a terrorist attack. Since that incident, their homes have been demolished, and they are facing harassment during their journeys. Moreover, they are subjected to abuse based solely on their clothing and physical appearance.


The situation has escalated to the point where individuals in India are labeled as 'terrorists' simply for wearing a beard and cap. Furthermore, the media in the country portrays innocent individuals in such a manner that they appear to be the actual perpetrators of crimes.


On Monday, a report by the BBC highlighted the story of one such victim.


Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, hails from the town of Poonch in Kashmir. His brother, Mohammad Iqbal, was killed on May 7 during a conflict at the India-Pakistan border. Following his brother's death, Farooq Ahmed's family has had to endure extremely challenging circumstances.
