The United States and Saudi Arabia are working towards resolving the conflict between Pakistan and India.

Tensions between India and Pakistan, the two nuclear powers of South Asia, are now at an all-time high due to the Pahalgam attack in Kashmir. The risk of a larger conflict is increasing with the retaliatory attacks. In such a situation, international and regional leaders are taking steps to reduce tensions between the two countries and avoid a possible larger conflict. The United States and Saudi Arabia have emerged as the main mediators.

This information was reported by the Pakistani media outlet The Express Tribune in a report citing relevant sources.

Sources said that the United States and Saudi Arabia have emerged as the two main mediators between Pakistan and India. The efforts of the two countries are quite noticeable. Saudi Arabia has sent its Deputy Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir to New Delhi on an unannounced visit.

On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and later telephoned Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The State Department said in a statement that the US and Saudi foreign ministers discussed regional security, economic engagement and efforts to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan. The statement did not provide further details.

The US is working closely with Saudi Arabia to prevent an escalation of tensions between Pakistan and India. Saudi Arabia has a longstanding relationship with Pakistan and has developed closer ties with India in recent years.

Saudi Arabia has geopolitical and economic interests that would be hurt if tensions between India and Pakistan escalated into a larger conflict.

According to sources, Pakistan has told Saudi and US mediators that Islamabad never wanted the escalation. It has directly blamed New Delhi for the current crisis.

The sources added that Pakistan has urged both the US and Saudi Arabia to change its course and reverse its decision to suspend the deal.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed on Wednesday that Pakistan's National Security Advisor and ISI chief Lt. Gen. Asim Malik was in touch with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval. The Director General of Military Operations was also in touch through their hotline.

The United States and Saudi Arabia have persuaded both sides to talk to each other, at least in times of crisis.

On April 22, 26 people were killed in a gun attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan for the attack and launched a missile attack on the country on Tuesday night. Several casualties were reported in Pakistan. In retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have shot down several Indian aircraft and drones.
