Trump is attempting to ease tensions between India and Pakistan.

US President Donald Trump is trying to ease tensions between India and Pakistan, the two nuclear-armed countries in South Asia. He is in ‘regular contact’ with the leaders of the two countries.

The White House announced this on Friday (May 9) local time. Anadolu Agency reported.

White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt told reporters, ‘This is an issue that the Secretary of State and our current National Security Advisor Marco Rubio are involved in. The President has said that he wants to see these tensions reduced as quickly as possible. ’

Leavitt said, ‘He (Trump) understands that these two countries have been at odds with each other for decades, long before he came to the Oval Office. However, he has a good relationship with the leaders of both countries. And I spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio just yesterday, he is in regular contact with the leaders of both countries to try to end this conflict. ‘

It is worth noting that on April 22, 26 people were killed in a gun attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan for the attack and launched a missile attack on the country on Tuesday night, dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’. Several casualties were reported in Pakistan.

At that time, Pakistan claimed that several Indian aircraft and drones were shot down. Islamabad also said that its forces did not cross the border between Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir in this case.

Later, when New Delhi continued the attack, Pakistan also attacked India. The country’s military announced that it had conducted a raid on Indian missile depots.

According to Pakistani officials, multiple weapons, including the Fateh-1 medium-range missile, were used in this operation and important Indian military installations were targeted.
